Each month I publish Every Cloud Accounting’s income. Here is the September 2024 monthly income report, along with a review of the month.

I get impatient when I am not getting the results I want. I thought September was a poor month. On reflection, that wasn’t the case and it shows the importance of reflecting in these monthly reports.

When I sit down and write, I am always surprised at how much has happened in a month.

Let’s get to it…

What went well

  • I attended an accountancy meet up in Market Harborough. It was great to get out of the house, chat with other accountants and share ideas.
  • I have been working from the new home office for a few weeks now; it has been a lot more peaceful and productivity has increased massively.
  • I had 9 new enquiries in September, a joint record!
  • I onboarded one new client who originally went to another accountant but ended up joining Every Cloud which felt good.
  • Every Cloud is starting to rank in the top 3 for some key local accountancy terms, over a year’s worth of effort is starting to pay off!
  • I am now up to 20 reviews on Google, averaging 5 stars!
  • I added a mentoring for accountants page, offering to mentor accountants looking to set up their own business aimed at giving back the support I had when I was starting out.
  • I added a book a discovery call option to the website, so people can book directly into my diary without filling out a form, waiting for confirmation etc.
  • I published two blog posts in September – My August 2024 monthly income report and Why relying on one major client could put your business at risk’.
  • I posted on LinkedIn 13 times – upping the frequency of posting.

What didn’t go well

  • Income dropped 9% compared to August.
  • I had someone come on board and then drop out because of the amount of IT I was using. It highlights the importance of having an onboarding process suitable for everyone.
  • Sleep has been really bad recently with Jesse teething and that has naturally impacted how I show up to work…. tired.
  • I have put a lot of time and effort in LinkedIn and I am not getting the results I want to. I have paused posting for a couple of weeks so I’ve purchased a LinkedIn course and will decide what to do next.
  • I haven’t exercised as many times as I wanted to in September, with no gym work.

Building a 6-figure lifestyle business

  • I feel like I have been more flexible in my approach to work, for example, with the lack of sleep I’m still learning to accept that sometimes it’s best not to work if I can’t do my best work. I had a Monday off and didn’t do too much, which is a first for me.
  • I took more money out the business to match the shortfall from the drop in maternity pay.
  • I spent time getting clearer on why I am running the business, which I did a LinkedIn post here.
  • I have still been taking roughly half the Fridays off to spend with Jesse.

Monthly revenue so far

Here’s how the monthly revenue is shaping up, since publishing the income reports in May 2024. The next goal is to break the £4,000/month sales mark.

Monthly revenue chart - May 2024 - September 2024

I am happy with how September went; I would like income to be higher and I am frustrated that LinkedIn isn’t performing how I want to, BUT I managed to write, run and do key habits regularly, so hopefully that will show further down the line.
